How much does a website cost?
Well,... it ranges because there's variables. The best thing to do would be to contact me so we can discuss what you're looking for. I can say that the terms are 50% up front and 50% due at completion. Visit the contact page to drop me a line.
How long does it take to complete a website?
Given that all content is furnished by the client up front a website can be completed with 5 days. Content is obviously key to meeting a quick turnaround. Some sites can drag on as long as a year, this is merely because of the slow process of receiving content from the client.
Do I need to get anything to you to get started?
Yes, everything that goes into the site. All content is needed to complete the website. Some media may help me in moving along with the website... example: a client supplied a brochure with text and that was used to fully supply the entire website with text content.
What is content?
EVERTHING that goes in your site... pictures, forms, contact info, and most importantly - text! Think of it as me building the house and you furnishing it. The best way to submit content is all the text written in a word document or email with the title being that of the page where the text resides. So if you have 5 pages of content then you would have 5 separate documents or emails. This keeps it structured nicely and allows for me to work very quick and efficiently.
Can you help me with content?
It depends on which content you need help with. I can help with graphics and photography. So, if you're missing product shots or an employee shot I'll be happy to help with that. The content that I can't help out with is text content. If you're having problems with coming up with text I can sub-contract out a writer than can sit down with you and create text content.
Will I be able to make changes and edit my website?
Yes, upon your website consultation I'll find out whether to add in a self-editing feature to your website. These systems are known as CMS (content management systems). Some clients utilize this feature to save time and money in the long run... and it does!
Can I just get you to make the changes for me?
Yes, aside from having the ability to make changes yourself, some clients would rather call me and have it done. For maintenance changes to a website I charge a reduced design rate.
What other costs are associated with maintaining a website? Hosting?
There is a monthly hosting cost that ranges from $25-$50 that will keep your site and emails up and running. This charge can be paid monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Before getting your hosting account going there is a registration cost for your domain name - this is $10/ per name for 1 year.
Can you put Flash on my website?
Yes, Flash can add a nice graphic touch to any website and is widely used for photo galleries.
I'm not happy with the company I'm with now, can you help me?
Of Course! Obviously starting from scratch is the easy way to go. Correct credentials are often needed to access the control panel to the domain registrar to make the appropriate changes to make "the switch".
How do I setup my email account?
I've written out some of the important details on this page
here.
Where do you get your work printed?
I've established great relationships with many different vendors all over the United States. Certain variables will determine who I use, for example: time constraints, quality, and cost. I keep 3-4 vendors as "my regulars" and get quotes. The printer with the best cost and best quality wins in my book!
I need to start advertising, where do I start?
First, contact me via my contact page and we'll schedule a meeting to talk about the various marketing options for your company... and that's how we get started.
Do you charge for marketing consultation?
No, I enjoy listening to people and helping them with their marketing problems.
Can MMG be hired on retainer?
Yes, retainer is the best way of getting a marketing and design firm at the rate of a low salary employee and without having to pay payroll taxes and benefits. Retainer clients get priority over the conventional client... which is one of the perks!
